The close cycle is how long a finance team takes to produce reliable statements after a period ends. Best-in-class is a few days; manual multi-entity operations commonly run two to three weeks. It is worth knowing in a sales context because it is the metric finance leaders are personally measured on, which makes it the number that moves them — far more reliably than a software feature does.
